Community Group’s Head of Community at Esher Rugby, Theo Skoumbourdis provides an update in his latest blog

First of all, I hope you all had a great Christmas and I wish you a happy new year. Time has flown by since my first blog in July and I hope you enjoy reading about what we have been up to over the last five months at Esher Rugby.

Powered by Community Group, our department have been working on a number of exciting projects which are due to commence later this year and we will share details of these in due course.

My latest blog provides an insight into our work to date.

Rugby Camps

Esher Rugby continue to deliver high quality camps running alongside the school calendar. Our camps are a great way to introduce new members to the club – to date we have seen 12 children join the Minis and Juniors section – and we hope they remain lifelong members and fans of our club.

We are again running a rugby camp this February half-term and to book your child’s place, please click HERE.

Holiday, Activities and Food Camps

We have worked in conjunction with Surrey County Council to deliver HAF camps during the school holidays. The Holiday, Activities and Food programme delivers fun multi-sports and arts and crafts for children aged 4-16 who receive free school meals.

Our last HAF camp in December saw 32 children attend a Christmas-themed three days from the 20th – 23rd. The camp was a success, setting the tone for a great Christmas as well as ensuring the children were active and received a hot meal each day in a fun filled environment.

Esher Rugby is now looking forward to our next HAF Camp during the Easter holidays, so keep your eyes peeled on our website for when bookings open!

School delivery

Last September marked the return of rugby delivery at local schools.

We are pleased to have developed partnerships with more than 25 primary and secondary schools across Elmbridge, Woking, Addlestone and Spelthorne, delivering PPA, as well as pre and after-school rugby sessions.

In addition, we are also providing pupils with the opportunity to come and play at Esher Rugby as well as watch our First XV. If you would like to know more about our school delivery, please get in touch by clicking HERE.

There are many elements to our work with schools and to find out more, please click HERE to take a look at Community Group’s recently launched Educational Solutions document.

Summary

Esher Rugby’s Community Department is growing month by month, delivering high-quality coaching sessions to more than 450 children per week.

We are very excited with how the 2021/22 season is going both on and off the field and look forward to seeing you down at the club. If you see me, please do feel free to stop me and I would be delighted to tell you more! Alternatively, you can also get in touch via email by clicking HERE.
