Community Sports Coach at Community Group (West Midlands)

Reporting directly to the Regional Manager (Midlands) at Community Group, these roles are responsible for delivering high quality Rugby & Multi-Sport coaching and mentoring across the West Midlands. 


You’ll be joining a talented and motivated team, with the support of the Regional Manager (Midlands) and Community Sports Manager. You’ll have the chance to engage with your community through a variety of programmes and projects that both utilize your skills and are of interest to you. 

Role: Community Sports Coach 

Reporting to: Regional Manager (Midlands) 

Direct/Indirect reports: 1 Direct/0 Indirect 

Location: West Midlands – Stourbridge, Bournville, Worcester and surrounding areas 

Hours: Zero hours contract (20 hours minimum) 

Vehicle: Use of own vehicle 


Key Responsibilities/Deliverables:  
  • Take a leading role in the planning, delivery and driving of our rugby programmes aross various educational settings and sports club environments. Ensuring they are engaging, effective and impactful for all involved  
  • Assist in the team planning and delivering of our holiday camps – including rugby, multi-sports and HAF, while bringing your own ideas to increase participation  
  • Share your own initiatives, ideas and goals to make the job role your own  
  • Work alongside the Regional Manager and Community Sports Manager to deliver on community projects and bids that utilize your skills best – such as our Women’s Heritage, Girls in Rugby and Mixed Ability Touch Rugby projects 
  • Helping to grow all aspects of the company including; SEN provisions, rugby pups and in school programmes 


Desirable experience & skills:  
  • UKCC approved coaching qualification – such as RFU Level Two  
  • Experience in a community coaching or PE setting where a range of ages, abilities and backgrounds were engaged with 
  • An in-date First Aid qualification 
  • Evidence of recent safeguarding training 
  • Enthusiasm and passion for coaching and working with childnre/young people 
  • The skillset to effectively work within a collaborative team 
  • Openness to a flexible work schedule, covering weeknights and weekends 
  • Manage time efficiently to follow tight deadlines and work under pressure  
  • Ability to adapt and change your planning and coaching depending on the environment and circumstances 


Knowledge of:  
  • The local demographic and how programmes can be effectively managed and delivered 
  • An understanding of effective marketing and communications within sport to support business growth and development 
  • A strong understanding of safeguarding in regards to children, young people, adults, coaches and volunteers
