PARTNER club Stourbridge Rugby has supported their local community with the delivery of a food project.

Thanks to funding from the Heart of England Community Foundation, the club worked with Specialist Event Catering Ltd and Dudley Council.

The project took place over the course of five weeks, with 750 meals cooked and delivered.

This builds on Stourbridge’s previous community work, which involved the distribution of food parcels and textbooks to local children during lockdown.

Stourbridge Rugby Head of Community, Chad Thorne said: “We are about more than just playing rugby and we wanted to continue to reach out to the wider community. This project saw the delivery of meals to elderly people who have been struggling with isolation during lockdown and throughout the pandemic. We wanted to provide a bit of respite with a free meal and it was an opportunity to reach out to them and let them know we are here to help and available if they wanted to talk.”
