Rugby-mad children enjoy summer camps
HUNDREDS of children enjoyed their first opportunity since lockdown to attend summer rugby camps at our partner clubs.
Our camps fully complied with the government guidelines with the safety of everyone of paramount importance. All sessions also followed the Rugby Football Union’s six-phased plan for the return of rugby, which was at Stage C at the time.
We were pleased to witness the popularity of the camps, displaying a confidence in our delivery, content and safety measures.
Community Group’s Head of Delivery, Steve Johns said: “We are delighted that more than 350 children enjoyed their summer camps across our partner clubs. It was great to see children as young as 5 and as old as 15 enjoy rugby and multi-sport activities. The feedback we have already received from parents and children has been extremely positive and we are looking forward to our October Half-Term Camps.”
Community Group’s Managing Director, Matt Price added: “It’s so positive to be able to get everyone back playing rugby and having fun at our partner clubs. It highlighted two main areas of our delivery – firstly, engagement with children of all ages enjoying games in a safe environment, and, secondly, financially by providing good revenue into our clubs which is very much needed at this time. The numbers we had across the board are up. That is due to children and parents wanting to get back to playing rugby, but also from a parents’ perspective the knowledge that your child is going to a quality camp with quality coaching and quality care is important.”
